jQuery

Simon Willison explains it all in jQuery for JavaScript programmers. jQuery is a sweet javascript framework. As Justin says, “jQuery is disgustingly easy”. I have a feeling it will catch on in the next 5 years.

OpenID

Simon Willison explains all about OpenID in the presentation he put together. I have a feeling OpenID will catch on in the next 5 years.

Work Weekend

Friday the 10th Ave Bridge finally opened up, so I borrowed John’s camera and took some pics of the 35W bridge.

I also got some picture of the Annex since it was painted this summer.

We ate dinner at 1027 and moved some stuff around in the Annex to get a jump start on the work weekend.
Saturday morning I went to the new Trinity at River Ridge building with Ficker to do security.

Others went to work on painting the new top left apartment 3 in the Annex, painting chairs, and moving the new people in.

This what the 1027 3rd floor hallway used to look like:

We got the lower right apartment 2 back from the summer.

We had Lord’s Day Dinner at a park and played volleyball.

Then we went back, had ice cream and sat around and talked.

Sunday we went to church, had some bagels from Joe, and went back to work.

We ate dinner at 6.

I spent the night at the new Trinity building with Ben.
Monday morning Kevin put on an additional orientation for the new U of M students. It was awesome. We all went to the Putziers’ cabin for afternoon/evening fun, and we played much Settlers.

Ctrl + Backspace

Just like Ctrl + Left or Ctrl + Right moves from word to word, Ctrl + Backspace and Ctrl + Delete delete entire words. It is amazing how much I don’t know about Windows.

Python 3000

The first alpha of Python 3000 (aka Python 3.0) came out today. It’s going to be sweet.

Week

Monday night we moved the bunk beds from one of the bedrooms in 1027 to the cat room. Now the living areas are across the hall from each other and the bedrooms are across the hall from each other. I think it makes more sense this way… until we need to get the salmon couch out of the bedroom.
Tuesday night we started priming the room.
Wednesday night we finished painting it.
Thursday we started moving stuff into it, including the couch. Turns out it was easier than expected.

I also stayed up late enough that I got to see TJ and Matt come home from the fair. It’s the first time I’d seen them all week because of the way our schedules work.
Friday night we are doing chores so we can have the entire Saturday and Sunday to paint and prepare everything for the next semester.

Week

Monday night we had a going away party for Anne.
Tuesday night we had dinner with the whole division as usual.
Wednesday was my first day back at work.
Thursday I started feeling some dull pain in my torso, so I went to have it checked out. Turns out it’s a bacteria infection. It’s pretty much gone now. Others went swing dancing.
Friday night started the kick-off. I went to guard the new River Ridge for the night.
Saturday we had breakfast, then talks, then chores, then went to the new building for what some consider the first Lord’s Day in the building. Then we played Settlers.

Sunday we had another talk, then prayer, then a community meeting. Afterwards, I went to my cousins’ house and we had a fire and played games. It was sweet.

Jott

I have heard a lot of hype about Jott over the last 4 days (Today and Saturday). Check out a post by Abe for more info.
